The combined team comprising Anti-Narcotics Task Force members across the country are putting an emphasis on seizure of illicit drugs and drug-trafficking.A combined security team operating on the Yangon River in Botahtaung Township, Yangon Region, conducted a search on motorboat driven by Khin Maung Lin and Thet Paing Htoo (aka) Thet Paing near the triple confluence in Botahtaung Township. They seized a motorboat carrying 997 kg of ICE (crystal meth), with an estimated value of approximately K29.91 billion, during a patrol at 1:30 a.m. on 16 September.
According to the confession of the offenders and further investigations,
- On 16 and 17 September, those who got involved in transporting the drugs were arrested. Kyaw Soe Min, was arrested in Dala Township. Kyaw Thein Oo (aka) Kyaw Gyi, was apprehended in Pazundaung Township, while Zaw Min Naing (aka) Zaw Min Lat was arrested in Yankin Township. Myo Naing (aka) Akyee Kaung was arrested along with another motorboat, in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township.
The narcotics were plotted to be trafficked towards the mouth of the sea by motor boat through Myetsane Island in Yangon. Legal action has been taken against them under the law, and officials are conducting ongoing investigations to identify the chain drug-related offenders. Again, money profits and the property of the offenders involved in the drug-related crimes will be taken actions under Anti-Money Laundering Law, it is reported.
