COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.
· The vaccination processes continue in respective regions and states as per the priority programme, and a total of 125,570 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 119,185 people as first dose on 20 December.
· A total of 5,102 students aged 12 years and above from Basic Education Middle and High schools in respective regions and states have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 3,339 students as first dose on 20 December. A total of 1,452,007 students have been vaccinated against COVID-19 up to 20 December.
Measures are being taken to import COVID-19 control, containment and treatment medicines and related equipment-
· On 20 December, two liquid oxygen storage containers/tanks, two liquid oxygen distributors and 19 tons of masks were imported by three companies using five vehicles via Muse 105th Mile trading zone and Chinshwehaw border trade post.
The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 127 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 11,519 samples and the infected rates are 1.10 percent on 20 December. Up to 20 December 2021, a total of 528,380 cases were found from testing a total of 5,909,389 samples and death toll reached 19,226.
