People’s Republic of China Donates One Million Doses of Sinovac Vaccine to Myanmar for Five Townships at Myanmar-China Border

746,800 doses of Sinovac, as a first batch out of one million vaccines donated by the People’s Republic of China for five townships on Myanmar-China border in Myanmar have already been delivered to the border townships of Yunan province along the border area between China and Myanmar.

· Delivery of 253,200 doses of Sinovac vaccines, as a second batch, will be started from Beijing city on 9 February and completely transported to Myanmar by 10 March.

· As those one million covid-19 vaccines will be used in Shan and Kachin states sharing borders with China, the Embassy of China released a  statement stating that the vaccines are crucial to enhance the capability of fighting against COVID-19 pandemic in the northern Myanmar, to secure the people of both countries from the pandemic and to reinforce the healthcare services in the area.

· It is reported that Myanmar has purchased 29.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from China and received a donation of 10.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from China after COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

The Ministry of Health has received a total of 45.1 million of COVID-19 vaccines purchased from abroad (15.4 million doses of Covishield, 26.7 million doses of Sinopharm, three million doses of Sinovac) and a total of 15 million doses as donations (2.5 million doses of Covishield, 3.6 million doses of Sinopharm, 6.7 million doses of Sinovac, 2.2 million doses of Covaxin and 1,700 doses of Sputnik-V), totaling 60.1 million doses.
