The government is effectively combating crimes including online gambling and telecom frauds in border regions including Thailand. In doing so, foreigners who entered Kayin State, specifically in the areas of Myawady-Shwekokko, Maetawthalay, and KK Park through illegal routes have been being verified and detained as follows:
- A total of three foreigners who entered through illegal routes have been verified and detained: two Koreans on 23 May and one Korean on 24 May.
- Myanmar has systematically extradited a total of 223 illegal foreign immigrants: 151 Ethiopians on 22 May; five foreigners on 26 May and 67 foreigners on 27 May who were involved in illegal online scams and criminal activities in Kayin State, specifically in the areas of Myawady-Shwekokko, Maetawthalay and KK Park, to their home countries, looking forward to humanitarian grounds and bilateral relations.

From 30 January to 27 May 2025, a total of 9,102 illegal foreign immigrants have been identified and detained. Among them, 8,692 illegal foreign immigrants have been extradited to their home countries via Thailand, and the rest of the detained 410 illegal immigrants are ready to be extradited, and most of them are Chinese nationals, reports say.
