Local residents opposing terrorism provided a tip-off to security personnel on 1 June about the discovery of IEDs on the public roads in Pakokku Township of Magway Region. Acting on tip-off, security personnel conducted a search at the scene and seized IEDs (explosives put into water tanks and claymore mines) planted by PDF terrorists along the roadside. Then, the IEDs were safely cleared in a systematic manner to prevent civilian casualties or injuries.
The public has strongly condemned and opposed PDF terrorists for their deliberate acts of violence in order to strike terror into the public, to interrupt livelihood and to disconnect road networks and flow of goods. Therefore, security forces are stepping up necessary security procedures to ensure the safety of the people, it is reported.
