Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Council Joint-Secretary General Ye Win Oo, entourage members, the Yangon Region chief minister, the Yangon Command commander and officials, inspected the implementation of urban development projects of Hlinethaya Township and the West Yangon Technological University in Yangon Region on 31 May.
On arrival at the Yawatwinwun U Pho Hlaing Road near Bayintnaung Bridge on the Yangon-Pathein Road in Hlinethaya Township, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister inspected placing the new pedestrians on Yawatwinwun U Pho Hlaing Road and upgrading of drains along both sides of the road. After hearing the reports, the Senior General instructed the officials as follows:
- It is necessary to continue dredging silt from the drains and strengthening the creek in Hlinethaya Township for proper water flow.
- It needs to conduct systematic research on designs and ditch levels that will make water flow easily in some areas where water is stagnant.
- As Yangon-Pathein Road is a main facility for transport, both sides of the road must be beautified with proper drainage systems to uplift the prestige of Hlinethaya Township.
Next, the Senior General and party inspected the following sites:
- The Senior General observed progress in building an overpass at the southern part of the corner of Kanaung Minthagyi Road and Yangon-Pathein Road, placing the new pedestrians and measures taken for smooth flow of water. After hearing reports of responsible officials, the Senior General gave necessary instructions.
- At the Thaunggya Creek, the Senior General inspected measures taken for smooth flow of water and left necessary guidance.
- On arrival at the West Yangon Technological University, the Senior General viewed round the entrance road to the university, placing the pedestrians, thriving trees and flowery plants along the entrance road and learning activities of students.
The SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party inspected the scale model of the layout plan of Hlinethaya Township at Bayintnaung Park. At the briefing hall of the park, the Yangon Region chief minister and the mayor reported on the accomplishment of the guidance given by the Senior General on his inspection tour of Hlinethaya Township for the development of the urban area and ongoing implementation, measures taken for proper flow of water in Hlinethaya Township, along Yangon-Pathein Road and both sides of Nyaungdon Road, construction of water outlet channels to Hline River and at both sides of Shwe Pyi Thar Bridge, digging of drains in the West Yangon University, placing of pedestrians on both sides of Yangon-Pathein Road and Nyaungdon Road, construction of overpasses and completion of the placing asphalt concrete on the circular road to West Yangon Technological University. After hearing the reports, the Senior General instructed the officials as follows:
- Emphasis must be placed on a better drainage system in Hlinethaya Township. Drains must be built with systematic calculation of water flow.
- Overpasses must be built under relevant criteria. It is necessary to move electric posts on pedestrian pavements to safe places properly.
- It needs to draw a systematic town plan and develop a plan formulated with markets, schools, administrative offices and sports grounds depending on population for the development of Hlinethaya Township. Therefore, the government is required to develop and implement a town plan and a development plan systematically.
- The YCDC needs to formulate a plan to generate electricity from solar energy for the township.
- It is necessary to consider safe living and sales of foodstuffs at fair prices for the people from various regions working at factories in Hlinethaya Township.
- Measures must also be taken to enable them to live and travel properly. Social security must be taken into consideration.
Next, the Senior General and party proceeded to the construction site of the overpass on Tabinshwehti Road near Aungzeya Bridge and inspected the ongoing processes. Later, the Senior General and party visited Shwepyitha, Mingaladon, North Okkalapa, Dagon Myothit (North) and South Okkalapa Townships in Yangon Region in a motorcade to inspect systematic road areas, prevention of trespassing on road areas by shops and squatters, systematic drainage systems along both sides of roads, enforcement of traffic rules and proper landscape, and left necessary guidance, reports say.
