A Lot of Narcotics Seized in Padaung, Bago and Mayangon Townships

The combined teams consisting of members from Anti-narcotic Task Force are intensifying seizure of narcotics and prevention of drug-trade. Action on the tip-off about drug-trade activities, the combined team seized a lot of narcotics as follows:

• On 16 February, action on the tip-off, authorities arrested Nay May Htet with an ALPHARD vehicle at the mile-post of 39, on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, near Bawnatgyi village of Bago Region. According to his statements, authorities seized 440 kilos of ICE (Crystal Meth) parked at the parking lot near the mile-post of (39/4). Again, authorities arrested other drug-related offenders who are involved in drug-trade at the different locations: Zaw Myat Tun, Kyaw Thura Soe, Kyaw Thu Win and Sai Aung Thura Tin in Mingaladon Township; Aung Zaw Win with 260 kilos of ICE and 168 kilos of heroin blocks in Mayangon Township; Thurein Tun (aka) Thura Tun in Kamaryut Township; Htet Naing (aka) Ko Ko Win Thu in Lawksawk Township; Ye Myint Thein in Aungban Township; Ko Ko Win in Yaytashay Township and Yin Paik Oo (aka) Yan Paing (aka) Hlwan Paing in Pathein. The offenders plotted to transport the drugs to Kayin State from Shan State.

• On 28 February, the combined team conducted checks for drugs at the Bubhet village check-point in Padaung Township, where approximately 1.53 billion kyats in current value worth of 1.02 million stimulant tablets were seized from a white SOJEN vehicle, along with drug-related offenders Than Aung Swe, Kyaw Win Tun, and Kyaw San Min. Additionally, other offenders Kyaw Zin Latt, Khin Maung Myint Shwe, and Kyi Kyi Khine were arrested in a white Probox vehicle.
• According to statements from the arrested offenders, Kyaw Win and Thaung Tun, who were involved in transporting the drugs, were further apprehended at a Kone Myint Tha guest house in Pyay. They had coordinated with Khin Maung Myint Shwe to continue delivering the drugs that had arrived in Yangon to Talain Taung village of Maei Township for a payment of 35 million kyats. Kyaw Lin (still at large) and Sai Kyaw Hla (still at large) reportedly agreed with Kyaw Win to pay 85 million kyats for transporting drugs to Rakhine State from Yangon.

Efforts will be continued to take harsh legal action against the apprehended offenders and to expose and apprehend other related offenders including the fugitives Kyaw Lin and Sai Kyaw Hla, it is reported.
