SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Inspects ‘Myanmar Thagaung’ Advanced War Veteran Housing (Laydauntkan) and Implementation Process in Thilawa Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Zone

Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, union-level dignitaries, the Yangon Region Chief Minister, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Yangon Command and officials, inspected ‘Myanmar Thagaung’ advanced war veteran housing (Laydauntkan) in Dagon Myothit (South) Township and Thilawa Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Zone implementation process in Yangon Region on 25 January.

On arrival at the ‘Myanmar Thagaung’ advanced war veteran housing, the Senior General and party heard reports presented by the Yangon Command Commander and officials on the implementation and completion of instructions given by the Senior General during his visit in May 2022, completion of the construction progress and construction of the housing units, settlement of war veterans and arrangements to continue the settlement, and efforts to ensure adequate water and electricity supplies. After hearing the reports, the Senior General instructed the officials as follows:

  • The ‘Myanmar Thagaung’ advanced war veteran housing (Laydauntkan) project is being developed as a town of war veterans. Such project must contribute to the development of the Yangon City, as a model housing initiative.
  • A solar power generation project that aligned with the project’s requirement must be considered for ensuring the required electricity in the housing after the systematic calculation.
  • As the housing has accommodated war veterans at more than 4,000 apartments, it become a small town. As such, further necessities should be addressed accordingly.
  • Regarding the construction site of a shopping complex, it aims to enhance the living standard of those residing in Dagon Myothit (South) Township and ‘Myanmar Thagaung’ advanced war veteran housing and create job opportunities for them.
  • Solar panels should be installed on rooftops to ensure a stable supply of electricity that are necessary in water and electricity system, and that solar power systems must be implemented in unused areas of the project site.

On arrival at the Thilawa Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Zone, the Senior General and party heard reports by Chairman of the Myanmar Economic Corporation General Nyo Saw, Chairman of Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Company Limited Lt-Gen San Oo and other responsible officials on the implementation of the directives of the Senior General, ongoing development of the Shwe Pyi Agriculture and Livestock Zone, ongoing operations of the Thilawa Integrated Agriculture and Livestock  Zone, and the 26-Mile Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Zone, and the cold storage (Hlinethaya), further plans to be carried out, and a plan to establish a feedstuff factory.  After hearing the reports, the Senior General instructed the officials as follows:

  • The establishment and functionalities of farming and livestock zones in Yangon Region aim to ensure sufficient supply of meat, fish, and seasonal crops within the region.
  • It needs to encourage agriculture and livestock farms to ensure the food security of the more than seven million population in Yangon Region.
  • It is necessary to operate livestock zones and camps as well as village-wise manageable livestock farms. It also needs ensure efficient production.
  • Moreover, it is necessary to take the best examples of successful agriculture and livestock farms from other countries to apply them to their farms. Next, the Senior General viewed the display of fish species bred in the Thilawa integrated farming zone and eggs and dairy products from agriculture and livestock farms.

Later, the Senior General left the instructions on concerned officials in respective sectors and then, the Senior General and party inspected the advanced war veteran housing and the Thilawa Integrated Argriculture and Livestock farming zone in a motorcade.
