53rd Myanmar Health Research Congress Commences

The opening ceremony of the 53rd Myanmar Health Research Congress was held at the Department of Medical Research, No 5, Ziwaka Road of Dagon Township in Yangon Region. First, SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech to it via video message.

Then, the excerpts from the remark by Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win are as follows:

  • The congress features the basic research, applied research, social sciences, health system research papers of Professors from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence, local and foreign researchers, and such research papers will bring valuable solutions for health problems of the public today.
  • Furthermore, the lecture and practical sessions on whole genome sequencing were conducted during the pre-conference activity of Myanmar and Korean researchers. Therefore, Myanmar experts can promote their technological skills in their respective fields.
  • He then urged the researchers to submit their papers to local and international research journals in addition to the congress. He pledged that the ministry would support all requirements.

On the first day, a Myanmar-Korea joint symposium for 2025 on innovative diagnostic and treatment approaches for tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and malaria was also held. Moreover, local and foreign experts will discuss various topics: “Myanmar-Korea Joint Symposium (2025)”, “Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle and Addressing Health Risk Behaviours”, Virological and Immunological Highlights of Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika Virus Infections in Myanmar”, and “Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the Next Generation of Health Professionals”.

On the same day, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between the officials of Department of Medical Research and Korea’s International Tuberculosis Research Centre.

The paper award selecting subcommittee will present the best paper awards, including Basic Research, Applied Research, Health Systems Research, best poster and young researchers, it is reported.
