Since January 2024, KNPP, KNDF, and PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out destructive acts under the cover of residential houses in the villages/wards of Pekon Township, Shan State (South). Local ethnic communities were unable to tolerate these activities and reported to security personnel about their acts of violence. Acting on the tip-off, the Tatmadaw conducted security operations in the areas. The ensuing clashes caused the terrorists to flee in chaos. The terrorists wrecked the homes of the defenceless civilians on their way of retreat.
The Tatmadaw’s security operations could restore peace and stability in the region. Therefore, efforts are being made for relocation of the displaced ethnic locals, reconstruction and collective cleanup in the villages where the terrorists destroyed.
Lt-Gen Naing Naing Oo from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), accompanied by the Commander of the Eastern Command and officials, inspected and encouraged the rehabilitation efforts. During the visit, they donated cash to the Ludes Maedaw Monastery, made food offering and cash donations to the monks at the Nattaw Monastery in the Townhsip. Additionally, the officials provided food and cash rewards to the departmental staff in Pekon Township for their dedicated service, reports say.
