K2 Billion worth of Drugs Seized in Mandalay Region

The combined team comprising Anti-Narcotics Task Force members across the country are putting an emphasis on seizure of illicit drugs and drug-trafficking. As a result:

  • On 17 December, acting on a tip-off, the combined team conducted a search on a 22-wheelers transporter, driven by Thein Zaw Oo and accompanied by Yan Naing Soe, on the 62nd Street in Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region. During the search, the combined team seized 34,400 stimulant tablets, and in the evening, they arrested additional drug-related offenders of Aung Aung and Ba Hein, who asked them to conduct drug-trade.
  • According to the confession of the offenders, the authorites arrested Ma San San Mya with 84,000 stimulant tablets at her home in Natyaekan village of Amarapura Township, and they also arrested Myo Htun Aung (aka) Sai Nay Aung (aka) Kyaung Saya at a hotel of Tampawaddy ward in Chanmyathazi Township, alongside 5.5 kg of Happy Water, 8,640 Ecstasy tablets, 0.2 kilos of Ecstasy powder. The same day, Hteik Soe Kyaw was arrested in Eastern ward of Aung Nan Yeikthar of Chanayethazan Township with 1.9 kilos of Ketamine, 9,600 Ecstasy tablets, 9,000 tablets of Happy-5, and 1.215 kg of Happy Water, totalling K2 billion worth of 0.1184 million stimulant tablets, 1.9 kilos of Ketamine, 6.715 kilos of Happy Water, 18,240 Ecstasy tablets, 0.2 kg of Ecstasy powder and 9,000 tablets of Happy-5.

Legal action has been taken against them under the law, and officials are conducting ongoing investigations to identify the chain drug-related offenders. Again, money profits and the property of the offenders involved in the drug-related crimes will be taken actions under Anti-Money Laundering Law, it is reported.
