Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received Ms. Noriko Takagi, Resident Representative of UNHCR to Myanmar, at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 5 December.
During the meeting, both sides frankly exchanged views on matters pertaining to effective measures for repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State in line with the framework of the tripartite MoU between the ministry and UNDP-UNHCR, plan to sign the tripartite agreement for the extension of MoU, measures to expedite the verification processes for individuals’ residency documentation in repatriation processes, potential areas of support from UNHCR, and arrival visa permits for UNHCR foreigner staff in accordance with procedures, travel arrangement and accommodation of locally appointed staff.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Ministers, Permanent-Secretary and relevant officials.
