The MoU on cooperation in anti-corruption (2024-2026) was signed by the Myanmar’s Anti-Corruption Commission and Russian Prosecutor-General Office on 4 September 2024 in Vladivostok, Russia. A roundtable on recovering assets from corruption and workshop on anti-corruption was held on 27 November. The Anti-Corruption Commission U Sit Aye received a Russian delegation led by Mr. Bazhutov Sergey, Head of the General Department of Criminal Court Proceedings at Lake View Hall of Shwe Nan Taw Hotel. During the roundtable, The Myanmar’s commission chairman discussed the following points:
- Myanmar has gained the benefits such as receiving well international experience and sharing information through the sign of the MoU on cooperation in anti-corruption with Russia.
- It has gained the benefits of holding international seminars, workshops and roundtables.
- It has also gained active cooperation in combating transnational crimes regarding corruptions.
- He also highlighted the intention of the commission to grab public participation in anti-corruption activities and create a society that condemns corruption at all to establish clean government and good governance, and willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation.
During the workshop, Russian Senior Prosecutors Ms. Shikhanova Anna discussed the topic on “International cooperation on detection of corruption crimes” and Mr. Gudkov Nikolay discussed the topic on " Improvement of methods of countering crimes committed with the use of information and communication technologies and in the sphere of computer information, using digital traces to detect persons who commit such deeds”. The discussion also read out the outcomes from the roundtable and workshop, it is reported.
