SAC Member, UEC Chair and Union Minister Receive Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman

The SAC member U Wunna Maung Lwin, UEC Chair U Ko Ko and Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe received the delegation led by H.E. Mr. Sholban Kara-Ool, Deputy Chairman of Russian State Duma at the respective ministries on 3 December.

• During the meeting between the SAC member U Wunna Maung Lwin and the Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman, both sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and multi-sectoral cooperation, sharing experience on national elections, cooperation between Members of Parliament, the support to be provided for students studying in Russia and collaboration on language teaching.
• During the meeting between the UEC Chair and the Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman, the Union Minister discussed collaboration efforts under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation and preparations undertaken to ensure the successful conduct of elections, and the Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman shared insights into the structure and operations of the State Duma, potential areas for bilateral cooperation, and ways for Russia to assist in facilitating successful elections.
• During the meeting between the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman, both sides cordially exchanged views on further consolidating existing friendship ties between Myanmar and Russia, expanding bilateral cooperation in various areas, including economic, cultural and tourism sectors, and deepening cooperation through regional and international organizations.

The meetings were attended by the director-general of Information and Security Department of the SAC member office, UEC members and officials of UEC office, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar and relevant officials, it is reported.
