Union Ministers Receive Senior Fund Portfolio Manager of Global Fund in Geneva, Switzerland, Ms. Maria Izaskun Gaviria Ayucar

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw and Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win received a delegation led by Ms. Maria Izaskun Gaviria Ayucar, Senior Fund Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, at the respective ministries in Nay Pyi Taw on 20 and 21 November.

• During the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs and Senior Fund Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund, they exchanged views on matters related to the Global Fund’s ongoing activities in Myanmar and enhancing cooperation between the Government of Myanmar and the Global Fund.
• During the meeting between Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and Senior Fund Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund, they exchanged views on matters related to processes carried out under Global Fund programme and further collaboration procedures.
• During the meeting between the Union Minister for Health and Senior Fund Portfolio Manager of the Global Fund, they discussed ongoing collaborative efforts for 2024–2026 between the Ministry of Health and the Global Fund, focusing on the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, and malaria, the Ministry’s initiatives to ensure sufficient procurement of medications for HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis treatment through the national budget, ensuring the availability of essential medicines, and the ministry’s oversight of fund utilization and programme implementation. Both sides expressed a commitment to continuing cooperation frankly and cordially.

Also present at the meetings were Deputy Ministers, Directors-general, officials and representatives from the Global Fund, it is reported.
