On behalf of State Administration Council Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, a delegation led by Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air) General Maung Maung Aye attended the 25th ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (25th ACAMM) at Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort in Mabalacat, the Philippines, on 21 November.
During the meeting, Lt-Gen Roy M Galido, the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, delivered the opening speech. ASEAN Army chiefs and military delegates discussed “Strengthening Partnership and Camaraderie towards Regional Stability”. After the meeting, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air) General Maung Maung Aye participated in a joint press conference with the ASEAN Army Chiefs.
On a separate occasion, the delegation led by Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air) met several key military leaders including Gen. Mao Sophan, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, Gen. Wasu Chiemsuk, Assistant Chief of Royal Thai Army, Lt-Gen Roy M Galido, the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Maj. Gen. Phanseng Bounphan, the Deputy Director of the General Staff Department of the Lao People’s Army and Bri-Gen. Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulai-man, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force. During the meeting, they discussed on the matters related to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the respective militaries. They exchanged souvenirs at the end of the discussions, it is reported.
