A total of 50 political parties among 90 parties for taking part in the multi-party Democracy General Election have applied for the right to continue as political parties up to 28 March 2023, which is the 60th day of the designated period, under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law. Therefore, 50 political parties have applied for the right to continue as political parties and registration under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, and 18 parties have applied for the permission to establish a political party under Section (3) of the Political Parties Registration Law, bringing the total to 68 political parties.
Moreover, the UEC approved the Socioeconomic Promotion Party to register as a political party under Section 9 of the Political Parties Registration Law on 18 November. Its headquarters located at Aung Thaya Ward, 28th Street (North), Pobbathiri Township, Zeyathiri District, Nay Pyi Taw.
Until 18 November, 68 political parties have applied for the permission to establish and register as a political party. Therefore, the UEC approved 54 political parties. Among them, there are 52 existing political parties, two parties under verification, eight parties that have been rejected to register as political party, one party in registration process, and three parties that have been rejected to establish as a political party, as two political parties have been annulled, reports say.
