Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin received the Chairman of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) at the parlour of the CNPC in Beijing on 11 November. During the meeting, both sides discussed as follows:
- Potential collaboration to share the gas by constructing an LNG as natural gas is required by both China and Myanmar were discussed.
- Discussions were also made on the matters relating to possible investments to be carried out at the potential oil and gas projects for Myanmar, construction and upgrade of pipelines, refineries and fertilizer plants.
During the meeting between the Myanmar delegation and the Deputy Head of the National Energy Administration (NEA) in Beijing at the meeting hall of the NEA:
- Both sides discussed on energy policies, strategies and energy security measures of the two countries, further assistance of China in technology and investment for green energy and new energy.
- Potential cooperation with Myanmar by taking advantage of the strategic location, whereas China cooperates with Middle-East and African countries in the energy sector, were discussed.
During the meeting between the Myanmar delegation and the Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province on 14 November:
- Cooperation concerning the use of oil and natural gas transported through the Myanmar-China oil and gas pipeline in Yunnan, were discussed.
- Discussions were also made on the matters relating to encourage business owners in Yunnan Province to invest in Myanmar's growing energy sector.
- Further discussions also covered the upcoming Asian Oil & Gas Equipment Exhibition and Investment Forum for the Oil & Gas Sector, set to take place in Myanmar in 2025 in cooperation with the People’s Republic of China, and the Yunnan Provincial government expressed its willingness to grant aid for the construction of solar power plants in Yangon and Mandalay.
Myanmar delegation visited the PETROCHINA YUNAN PETROCHEMICAL COMPANY refinery in Yunnan Province, which processes oil and natural gas sourced from the Myanmar-China pipelines. Union Minister enquired about technical details and the possibility of offering practical training courses. It is reported.
