Tazaungdine Festival held in Regions and States on the Occasion of Full-Moon Day of Tazaungmone (Thamanya Phala Akhar Taw Day)

          The 15th of November 2024 is the full moon day of Tazaungmone and it is also known as Thamanya Phala Akhar Taw Day. Thus, Myanmar people held celebration of Tazaungdine Festival or Festival of Lights yearly for the sake of preserving such a well traditional of Myanmar. In this regard, the Tazaungdine Festival celebrations were held in regions and states.       

  • A throng of pilgrims, good merit doers and those who kept the Sabbath densely crowded the pagodas, images and temple in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. Lots of good merit doers held Kahtein celebrations with public contributions in townships, wards and streets, and they enjoyed going round the town by accompanying with Myanmar traditional drum troupes.
  • Contests for yellow robe were held at Shwedagon and Kabar Aye Pagodas in Yangon.
  • Contests for yellow robe were held at Mahamuni Buddha Image in Mandalay.
  • Contests for yellow robe were held at Ancient Historic Santawshin Sutaung Pyae Shwemawdaw Pagoda in Bago. Local people, pilgrims from all over Myanmar and those who came to join the festival thronged along Shwemawdaw Pagoda of Bago.
  • Shan State Government organized lights of festival in the wards of Taunggyi. The large number of visitors densely witnessed and encouraged the procession of oil-paper lanterns by ethnic people and local residents in Taunggyi. The Tazaungdine festival was grandly organized from 11 to 17 November. During the festival, 26 huge nighttime hot-air balloons, 21 large hot-air balloons attached with small lanterns, 40 daytime four-legged animal-shaped hot-air balloons, 147 two-legged animal-shaped hot-air balloons and 22 animal-shaped groups were launched.

          Moreover, Tazaungdine celebration, the launch of hot air balloons, 28 Buddha Statues celebration, Shin Upagutta honouring celebration and oil-lamp floating celebration, weaving and offering Mathoe lotus robe to Buddha, offering uncooked rice to Buddhist monks were held in the townships of regions and states on the Occasion of Full-Moon Day of Tazaungmone (Thamanya Phala Akhar Taw Day. Tens of thousands of people crowded the celebrations and joined in Nirvana market festivals. At night, good merit doers, who gave the feast of Maezali bud salad to others and discarded their property for others, and those, who picked up the discarded property, peacefully enjoyed the activities on the occasion of Tazaungdine Festival.

          Likewise, Bagan Ancient Cultural Area was much densely crowded with pilgrims on the occasion of Tazaungdine Festival. There were more than 30,000 pilgrims who visited Kyaiktiyo Pagoda of Kyaikto Township in Mon State in the occasion of festival. Being the holidays of Tazaungmone, recreational camps, beaches and public parks were densely crowded with visitors that showed the peaceful enjoyment of people on the occasion, reports say.
