A ceremony to present awards to the winners of the Hot-Air Balloon Releasing and Mathoe Lotus Robe Weaving Contests for 2024 was held grandly at the water fountain square in the precinct of Buddha Park of the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on 15 November.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister and wife, the Head of Russia’ Buryatia Republic Chair of Government of Republic of Buryatia and dignitaries paid homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image and lit oil lamps together. They then went round the Image clockwise. Then, the Senior General and a delegation led by the Chair of Government of Russia’s Buryatia Republic watched the release of Seinnaban and Nya Mee Gyi (night flares) hot-air balloons dedicated to the Buddha Image as competitions.
After that, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and a delegation led by the Chair of Government of Russia’s Buryatia Republic visited the stone plaque chambers. Following this, the prize-awarding ceremony continued. During the ceremony, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister presented the trophy, cash award and a certificate of honour to the first-prize winning teams representing Mandalay Region, Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) of the Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Transport and Communications in the Mathoe lotus robe weaving, the Seinnaban hot-air balloon releasing, and the Nya Mee Gyi (night flares) hot-air balloon launching contests, respectively.
Present were SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, the SAC Secretary and wife, the SAC Joint-Secretary and wife, Head of Russia’ Buryatia Republic Chair of Government of Republic of Buryatia H.E. Mr. Tsydenov Alekesei Sambuevich and delegation members who were on a friendship visit in Myanmar, SAC members and wives, union ministers and wives, the Nay Pyi Taw council chair, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the Nay Pyi Taw command commander, officials, contestants of hot-air balloons releasing and Matho lotus robes weaving competitions, and pilgrims including monks and laypersons. Later, the Senior General and wife warmly greeted the pilgrims who came to the lighting festival, it is reported.
