The annual Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony for 2024 took place at Maravijaya Monastery in the Maravijaya Buddha Park in the precinct of Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on 13 November. The ceremony was graced by the Presiding Nayaka of Paukmyaing Monastery in Lewe and Sayadaws residing at Maravijaya Monastery. Also present at the event along with Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla were Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, the SAC Secretary and wife, the SAC Joint-Secretary and wife, council members and wives, union ministers and wives, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials.
The Senior General and congregation viewed round Kathina robes, alms and articles of offering on tree-shaped stands to be donated to Maravijaya Monastery. The Senior General and the congregation listened to the recitation of the Metta Sutta and other sacred teachings by Abbot of Maravijaya Monastery Sayadaw. Subsequently, the Senior General and his wife offered Kathina robes and offertories to the Paukmyaing Sayadaw and the Presiding Nayaka of Maravijaya Monastery.
Afterward, the Vice-Senior General and wife offered Kathina robes and donations to the Sayadaw of the Eastern Inntha Monastery in Lewe Town. The SAC Secretary and wife, the SAC Joint-Secretary and wife, SAC members and union ministers also offered Kathina robes and alms to the venerable monks respectively. After the ceremony, the Senior General, his wife, and the congregation offered day meals to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha led by the Paukmyaing Sayadaw, reports say.
