SAC Members Mahn Nyein Maung, Khun San Lwin and Party Attend 69th Kayin State Day Celebration

The 69th Kayin State Day ceremony, a celebration honouring the heritage and pride of the Kayin people, took place on 7 November. Attendees included State Administration Council members Mahn Nyein Maung and Khun San Lwin, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Chief Ministers U Saw Myint Oo of Kayin State and U Aung Kyi Thein of Mon State, U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Head of the Council’s Central Advisory Committee, Commander  of South Eastern Command, members of the State Government, Ministers for Ethnic Affairs from Yangon Region, Mon State and Taninthayi Region, representatives from NCA-signatory ethnic armed organizations, political parties, town elders, and local ethnic residents.

Then, the message sent by the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu ThadoeThiri Thudhamma Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was read out by the SAC member Mahn Nyein Maung.

State Administration Council members Mahn Nyein Maung and Khun San Lwin, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo of Kayin State, Commander of South Eastern Command, U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Head of the Council’s Central Advisory Committee, , Saw Chit Thu, general secretary of the BGF's central advisory and command board, the Karen National Union/ Karen National Liberation Army-Peace Council (KNU/KNLA-PC) Vice Chair Dr. Naw Kapaw Htoo, Saw Sein Win of the DKBA, U Zaw Min, Chief Minister of Kayin State (Rtd), township elder U Saw Pho Ni cut the ribbon. Then, the commemorative archway and galleries of 69th Anniversary Kayin State Day was opened by SAC member Mahn Nyein Maung, along with the releasing of 69 doves.

Next, the SAC members and party presented honourable certificate and awards to outstanding individuals in the fields of management, social, economy, environmental conservation, education, industrial and technology, livestock breeding, religious sector, and those who won the prizes in the competitions which marked the Kayin State Day.  

The SAC members and officials met members from ethnic peace organizations, political parties, ethnic literature and culture associations, township elders, social organizations, departmental officials, and local ethnic residents from various community groups at the Zwekabin Hall of Hpa-an, Kayin State on 6 November. During the meeting, they held talks on the Council’s efforts toward national peace, stability, and development, emphasizing ongoing peace initiatives, the casualties and losses due to armed conflicts and the need of the public cooperation in counter-terrorism operations and the need of ethnic nationals’ collaboration for human resource development among ethnic communities.
