SAC Information Team Leader Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun's Clarification on the Visit of State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to People’s Republic of China

The State Administration Council Information Team Leader Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun clarified the following matters on the visit of the State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to People’s Republic of China:

  • At the invitation of the Government of People’s Republic of China, the Prime Minister attended the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit and the 11th Cambodia-Lao PDR- Myanmar- Vietnam (CLMV) Summit. 
  • Myanmar will have to serve the alternate Chair of ACMECS Summit next year, and it also expects that it can invite ACMECS member states and hold the meetings.
  • During the visit, the Prime Minister met the Chinese Premier, the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and the Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee.
  • China supports perpetuation of Myanmar’s sovereignty and it does not accept any individuals as well as any organizations that use the China’ territory for opposing Myanmar.
  • Myanmar reaffirmed the China’s policy and reiterated that it does not allow those who are opposing China to use the Myanmar’s territory.
  • China always supports Myanmar’s efforts in strengthening its political system.
  • The Prime Minister held talks with the Prime Ministers of Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, neighbouring countries, and was able to establish constructive relations with them.
  • The Prime Minister successfully held talks with Chinese entrepreneurs who wish to make investment in Myanmar in Kunming and Chongqing.
  • It is expected to develop fast soon in the One Belt One Road project, the CMR economic corridor project that is related to Myanmar, and Myanmar-China Economic Corridor project.
  • Regarding the education sector, China will offer more scholarship for Myanmar students at the provincial level as well as the central government level.
  • China will continue to help Myanmar for the development of socio-economic status.

In summary, the Prime Minister met the Chinese Premier, the Prime Minister of Thailand, the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the Prime Minister of Laos during his visit to China and it was a successful visit for the development of socio-economic status of Myanmar people in particular, the Maj-Gen said.
