On 23 October, acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprising security personnel conducted a search on a passenger bus travelling to Mandalay from Mawlamyaing near Nyaung Kha Shay village in Waw Township. They have detained Ko Ko Naing (aka) Ko Naing along with a total of 16 pistols and 530 bullets, that were intended to support terrorists.
According to the confession of the offender, the combined team arrested Aung Zin Thu, who would transport such arms and ammunition to Sagaing Region, at 38th and 85th Street in Yadana Bhomi (West) Ward of Maha Aungmye Township on 24 October. The offenders plotted to carry those arms and ammunition to Chaung-U Township in Sagaing Region from Three Pagodas Pass Township in Kyainseikgyi Township, Kayin State. Legal action has been taken against them under the law, and officials are conducting ongoing investigations to identify other offenders involved, it is reported.
