Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Lwin Oo and Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement U Soe Kyi received the delegation led by Ms. Shoko Yasuda (Arakaki), Director of the Humanitarian Response Division of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Geneva at the respective ministries.
- During the meeting between the Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and Director of the Humanitarian Response Division of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), they discussed the matters related to UNFPA’s ongoing Humanitarian Assistance programme and future work plans to be carried out in Myanmar.
- During the meeting between the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Director of the Humanitarian Response Division of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), they discussed the matters related to ongoing collaboration between the Myanmar government and UNFPA, as well as future joint projects.
- During the meeting between the Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement and Director of the Humanitarian Response Division of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the discussion centred around potential collaboration on a work plan between the Ministry and UNFPA, with a focus on ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable households, particularly women and young girls, in flood-affected regions through the ministry’s psychosocial support teams. Both sides exchanged views openly on humanitarian aid and future cooperation.
Directors General, senior officials and representatives from the UNFPA Myanmar office, were also present at the meetings, it is reported.
