Members of anti-narcotic task force from Ministry of Home Affairs joining hands together with security personnel are putting an emphasis on anti-narcotic measures, and the seizures of narcotic drugs in September 2024 were as follows:
- From 1 to 30 September, a total of 645 drug-related offenders including 557 males and 88 females were arrested along with a total of MMK74,164.231 million (over USD 22.27 million) worth of narcotic drugs: 5.8 kilos of opium; 124.86 kilos of heroin; 18,076,936 stimulant tablets; 0.05 kilos of stimulant pieces; 1,455.63 kilos of ICE; 40.68 kilos of marijuana; 38 kilos of concentrated poppy straw; 480.508 kilos of poppy leaves; 1,777.3 kilos of brownish opium powder, 152 liters of liquid opium; 414 tablets of Ecstacy, 70.59 kg of Ketamine; 15.76 kg of Happy Water; 68.4 litres of cough syrup, 9,290 kg of Ammonium Nitrate; 250 kg of Sodium Cyanide; 3,000 kg of Phenol; 240 kg of Activated Carbon and 250 kg of Caustic Soda were seized.
The arrested drug-related offenders were handed over to the relevant police stations and harsh legal actions are being taken against them under the law. Members of anti-narcotic drugs task force, joining hands with security force members, are making further identification to apprehend drug-related offenders for the sake of elimination of narcotic drugs.
