According to the information exchanged between the Myanmar Police Force, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is cooperating with China's Ministry of Public Security to conduct law enforcement and combat online fraud.
A total of 313 Chinese nationals and 557 Myanmar nationals, including 45 fugitive Chinese nationals, who were involved in online fraud (Kyar-Phyant) activities in Muse in September 2024 were arrested and a total of 870 defendants and computer-related items such as identification items used in online fraud activities, mobile phones and scam devices have been identified and seized.
Actions were taken against a total of 313 Chinese citizens including 45 fugitives, under the existing law of Myanmar, and they were transferred to China via entrance/exist of Ruili, Yunnan province, on 26 September 2024. Effective actions will be taken against online scams and online fraud activities in border areas in collaboration with law enforcement organizations from neighboring countries in accordance with domestic laws and procedures, it is reported.
