Authorities Provide Flood Victims with Foodstuffs in Regions and States

Flash flood occurred in the wards and villages of regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area due to heavy rains across Myanmar. As such, relevant authorities and the generous donors have been conducting necessary assistances to flood victims. In this regard:

  • Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin accompanied by concerned officials met with the flood victims who are temporarily sheltered at three relief camps opened in Loikaw Township and provided rice, cooking oil, necessary supplies and cash assistance to them.
  • Staff families of Ministry of Industry donated K14.5 million worth of rice, cooking oil, oral rehydration salt packets and school books for students, village officials and flood victims in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
  • Myanmar Livestock Federation handed over K200 million and K8 million worth of Animal feeds and K98.7 million worth of veterinary medicines for flood-hit livestock farming businesses to officials and donated to continue Disaster Management Centre.
  • The generous donors donated K 16 million for flood-affected areas through Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
  • The well-wishers and social welfare organizations from 12 regions and states donated K6,578.132 million, $50 and 3.411 million baht and K11,336.146 million and 0.462 million baht worth of relief supplies, totalling K17,914.278 million, $50 and 3.873 million baht to the flood-stricken areas, in 12 flood-damaged regions and states, Nay Pyi Taw Council, Yangon Region, Mandalay Region, Sagaing region, Ayeyawady Region, Taninthayi Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Kayah Region, Shan State, Mon state and Kayin State on their own plans.

At present, the concerned authorities and generous donors fulfil the needs of flood-victims daily, in addition to, the departmental officials inspect the damaged areas, undertaking rehabilitation measures, reports say.
