Union Ministers Receive a Delegation led by Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun, and Chairman U Tin Oo of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association (Central) received the delegation led by Mr. Liu Yong, Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China, on 23 and 24 September at the respective ministries in Nay Pyi Taw.

• During the meeting between Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and the Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province, they cordially discussed cooperation in the development of forest, mine and environmental conservation sectors between the two countries. After the event, the China Arts and Crafts Association provided relief items worth 700,000 Yuan for people in Myanmar affected by floods due to Typhoon “Yagi”.
• During the meeting between Union Minister for Electric Power and the Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province, they cordially discussed matters on the successful development of the electricity sector between Myanmar and China, continued cooperation from various energy sources for the development of Myanmar’s electricity sector and continued work between the Ministry of Electric Power and the Yunnan Provincial Government.
• During the meeting between Chairman of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association (Central) and the Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province, they discussed ways to strengthen the friendship and trust between Yunnan Province and Myanmar, promote peaceful coexistence, enhance people-to-people relations, and prioritize the implementation of mutual interests.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Ministers, Permanent-Secretaries, Directors-General and departmental officials. The Deputy Governor of Yunnan Province was accompanied by officials from the Departments of Economic Affairs and Energy of Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China, it is reported.
