Authorities Provide Flood Victims with Foodstuffs in Regions and States

Flash flood occurred in the wards and villages of regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area due to heavy rains across Myanmar. As such, relevant authorities have been carrying out collective cleaning activities and rehabilitation tasks in the areas after waters receded. In this regard:

  • State Administration Council Member Khun San Lwin and Shan State Chief Minister presented cash assistance and foodstuffs for the flood victims at the monastery in Sanphu Village, Hopong Township of Pa-O Self-Administered zone, presented foodstuffs and K15 million each for Htitagu-Naungday village-tract in Meneitaung area and Khaungnwe-Intaung area in Loilem Township of Loimaw, and also donated K28 million for rehabilitation task of Naungmu area severely affected by a natural disaster.
  • Staff families of Ministry of Industry provided K15.3827 million worth of rice, blankets, clothes, footwears, boiling tablets, purified drinking water and others useful items for flood victims in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area through village officials.
  • Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and the generous donators donated K40.4 million of cash assistance, 888 robes, 702 buddha statues, rice, cooking oil, foodstuffs, and other supplies for 202 monasteries and nunneries affected by flash floods and K3.33 million of cash assistance for flood victims in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
  • Union Minister for Labour provided K30.3 million worth of cash assistance, rice, cooking oil and foodstuffs for 260 flood-stricken households in Chaungkangyi Village, Zeyathiri Township.
  • The graduated officers of 22nd Intake of Defence Services Academy donated K 10 million for flood victims.
  • Departmental organizations and the generous donators donated K 46.6 million and foodstuffs for flood-affected areas through Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
  • The generous donators donated K 8 million and foodstuffs for flood victims in Shan State.

At present, the concerned authorities and generous donors fulfil the needs of flood-victims daily, in addition to, the departmental officials inspect the damaged areas, undertaking rehabilitation measures, reports say.
