Union Ministers Make Management for Fieldwork in Disaster-affected Areas

Union Ministers, deputy ministers and concerned officials have made management for fieldwork on water inflow into dams, the status of water flow in creeks, the wreckage of village-to-village connecting roads, bridges, water supply works for villages, the damage of power cables, the conditions of wrecked roads and bridges under repair works, the condition of basic education schools flooded and the provision of healthcare services due to heavy rain by Yagi Typhoon. They carried out the following activities on 18 and 22 September:

  • Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung inspected the repairs of drainages of Yezin dam for irrigated cultivation in Zeyar Thiri and Pyinmana Township in Nay Pyi Taw, maintenance works for solar-powered underground water pumps. Then he coordinated the reports of local farmers.
  • Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe inspected the remains of silt in the residential houses and schools in flash floods, completion of repairing roads, bridges and inter-village roads affected by heavy rains and distribution of purified drinking water in Zeyathiri, Pobbathiri, Pyinmana, Tatkone, Pyawbwe and Yamethin Townships. He then visited the flood hit villages in Pyinmana Township and made fieldworks for winer sunflower cultivation successfully, coordinating the reports of locals.
  • Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun inspected the re-construction of the collapsed 230 kV Shwemyo-Nay Pyi Taw (2) transmission line in Nay Pyi Taw, relocation of power line and re-construction of the 230 kV Thazi-Shwemyo transmission line.
  • Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe inspected the ongoing rehabilitation tasks at the basic education schools affected by flash floods in Pobbathiri, Zeyathiri and Pyinmana Townships, and instructed the officials to join hands each other for the resumption of teaching activities, fulfilling the needs.
  • Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw inspected the flood-affected Technological University (Taungoo), University of Computer Studies (Taungoo), Government Technical High School (Taungoo) and Government Technical Institute (Taungoo), and left necessary instructions.
  • Vice-Chair (2) of National Disaster Management Committee Union Minister Dr. Soe Win, Chair of Healthcare Management Work Committee Union Minister Dr. Thet Khine Win and Chair of Disaster Management Body of Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw U Than Tun Oo arrived at Specialist Hospital for Child (Nay Pyi Taw), Nay Pyi Taw Public Hospital (300-bedded) and Public Hospital (Tatkon). They comforted the in-patients who have suffered from food poisoning from Chaungchar village of Kyatthonkhin village-tract of Tatkon Township. Then, they gave instructions the officials to provide special care to the patients.
  • Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant inspected the works for Bailey bridges under construction to repair Nawin Chaung bridge (Ah Son bridge), Sin Thay Chaung bridge (Poppa Gon), Sin Thay Chaung bridge (Thaik Chaung) and No (2/20) bridge on the road of Moontet Khwin-Kyi Taung-Khawma-NyaungbinTha, the completion for temporary repair works, the permanent repair works under construction, strength of roads and bridges, and permits for vehicles and passenger buses to cross the bridges. Then, they gave instructions to the officials for the needs to do.
  • Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair U Than Tun Oo arrived at Kwunchan, Zeepyu Tan, Yaykar and Nyaungbin Tha villages. He inspected there and gave instructions to the officials to resume cultivation the quickest in the farmlands flooded and repair the drainages.
  • Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw inspected the wreckage of soil embankment of Minthagyi Lake in Pyawbwe Township, repairs of Samon reservoir damaged by water erosion in Thazi Township with the use of machineries, wreckages of submerged pipe of left main drainage of Kintarr dam in Myittha Township and damages of Samon Rabar dam, inflow of water in Myogyi dam in Ywarngan Township of Shan State, and  inflow of water in Minye and Zeetaw waste weirs and Zawgyi dam located on the Zawgyi river in Kyaukse Township of Mandalay Region,  He then visited the Samar waster weir located on Panlaung river near Myittha Township and inspected the inflow of water in the weir, strength of weir and overflow of water from spillway, wall of the weir, sluice gate and strength of weir. Later, he instructed the officials to monitor the dam round the clock for ensuring the safety.
  • Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Lu Mon inspected the repairs of telephone poles and cables affected by natural disaster along Pyinmana bypass road and Pyinmana Sugar Mill road, flood conditions of the mobile units near the sugar mill and at the BawGaThiri Highway Bus Station, restoration works and the fiber cable connections along the Tatkone-Pinlaung road through Kintha junction.

          Natural disaster occurred due to extreme flow of water in rivers and creeks, heavy water inflow into the dams across the nation. In this regard, concerned authorities are closely making management to recover the damages. They are also collaborating with relevant organizations to make relief efforts for flood victims in a timely manner, reports say.

They also comforted the in-patients who have suffered from food poisoning from Chaungchar village of Kyatthonkhin village tract of Tatkon Township.
