Authorities are carrying out rescue and relief measures for flood victims as heavy rainfall occurred in the villages and wards of regions and state, including Nay Pyi Taw Council area and cleaning activities in the affected areas. In this regard:
- The generous donators donated K232.5 million, rice boxes, 610 rice bags, 6.000 bottles of purified drinking water, 58 bags of consumer goods for flood-hit people from flood-ravaged due to the remnants of Typhoon “Yagi” over South China Sea. The family of Shwe Thanlwin Co. Ltd (SKYNET Media) donated 10,000 daily rice boxes for flood victims in Nay Pyi Taw Council area through Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement from 14 September.
- The Family of Union Minister Admiral Moe Aung at the State Administration Council Chairman Office Ministry 4 donated rice boxes for Breakfast and lunch for 450 military personnel and departmental officials who are carrying out the public welfare activities along Pinlong road and along from Theik Chaung crossroads to Pobba Thiri beltway and donated 450 rice boxes, 4,680 instance noodle packages, 156 cool bottles, 1.440 cereal packages for flood victims through Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
- Sayartaw bhaddha thorbana from International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University as pre 77 years old of his birthday donated monk equipment and K10 million including 600 robes, 31 set of robes for flood-hit monasteries through deputy rector from International Theravāda Buddhist Missionary University.
- Led by Interfaith Friendship Organization (Center) in cooperation with the Interfaith Friendship Organization (Nay Pyi Taw) donated K110 million worth of clothes and foodstuff including cash assistance of K15 million for flood victims at the relief camps in Nay Pyi Taw.
- Myanmar actors/ actress and comedian donated foodstuffs and cash assistance for flood victims in Nay Pyi Taw council area.
- Thamada Foundation and well-wishers led by Abbot of Nanda Aungmyay Monastery of Leading patron of Nanda Aungmyay Foundation Dr Bhaddanta Nimala donated foodstuffs such as clothes, blankets, rice and cooking oil, monk equipment, K100 million worth of donation for flood victims in Nay Pyi Taw council area through actor academy Nay Aung.
- As of the statistics of 16 September, the flood claimed the lives of 226 people whereas 77 people have been missing in 56 township/ wards affected area. A total of 2,116 houses have collapsed, and 158,373 homes have been flooded in these 56 townships. Consequently, 438 relief camps have been established by the relevant state and regional governments. Personnel from the Tatmadaw, police, firefighters, Red Cross members, and volunteers are conducting rescue and relief operations for 42,858 households comprising 163,710 individuals.
Furthermore, infrastructure and crop cultivation have been severely affected in 84 townships across Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Kayin State, Bago Region, Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Shan State, and Ayeyawady Region. The damage includes 117 departmental offices and buildings, 1,040 schools, 386 religious buildings, roads, bridges, power towers, and telecom towers. Additionally, 128,344 animals have died, and 643,081 acres of paddy and other crops have been damaged.
Preparations are being stepped up to reduce the risk to lives and property of the people during the disaster and weather forecast information will be broadcasted in a timely manner, reports say.
