Due to the remnants of Typhoon “Yagi” over South China Sea and the low pressure area over the West-central Bay and adjoining North-West Bay of Bengal, extreme rainfall occurred across Myanmar from 8 to 13 September. Flood occurred including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, some township of State and Region. Road and railway were flooded and bridges, Electric light pole, buildings and houses were wrecked. In this regard:
- As water level of Ngalaik and Sinthay creeks and Paunglaung river which pass through the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory are increased, floods occurred in the residential areas and villages of Tatkon, Zeyathiri and Pobbathiri Townships in addition to some bridges were washed away and some parts of Yangon-Mandalay road were flooded.
- Authorities made evacuation of flood victims from Bawgathiri Express Bus Terminal, Pinlong crossroads, Pyinmana Shwechi ward, Aye Myint Thayar village, Beagon village, Kyaukchet village, Aizauk village, Thapyaybin village, Sharsayhpo village, Gyobin village, Kyan Phosu village to safe places as Lawka Chanthar pagoda, temporary relief camps in local military units and provided them with foodstuffs.
- Due to floods over Yangon-Mawlamyine Road in Mon State, the transportation services were temporarily suspended, and the residential houses in low-lying areas in some wards of Kyaikto Township were flooded due to the high-level of water in Kadat creek.
- As floodwaters washed out the pier of the No (1) concrete bridge between Yangon-Manday rail segment in Pyawbwe Township, the rail services were temporarily suspended.
- Some basic education schools were temporarily closed due to flooding in Hopone Township, Shwe Nyaung Township, Fort Bahtoo, Lawksawk Township, Kenghkam Township, Aungban Township, Kalaw Township and Namsang Township of Shan State (South).
- Departmental officials, Tatmadaw personnel and philanthropic organizations made evacuation assistance for flood victims in Bago, Taungoo and other townships in the Bago Region to safe places and provided them with foodstuffs.
- Tatmadaw personnel joining hands with departmental officials and philanthropic organizations made evacuation assistance for flood victims at No. (1) concrete bridge between Yangon-Manday rail section in Pyawbwe Township of Mandalay Region, No. (1/291) concrete bridge between Yangon-Manday Road, Salmon Falls Dam, Meiktila-Taunggyi road, near Kyatsakhan village, Shwe Myin Tin Pagoda in Yamethin Township and damaged places in Bagan Archaeological Zone of Nyaung-U Township.
- Concerned authorities have made concerted efforts for resuce operations such as necessary evacuation assistance, provisions with foodstuffs, clearing debris such as trees and branches, ensuring sanitation in areas where the floodwaters have receded at Nanwinaine, Kyaukoe, Aung Thapyay, Kyoetan, Thayetchaung, Letpadan and Kyauktalonegyi villages of Lewe township and Kyaukse, Myittha, Kume, and Yamethin townships in the Mandalay Region.
- Since efforts have been made for repair and substitution works for Theik Chaung bridge, Nawin Chaung bridge, as well as 2 bridges of Poppagon bridge (over Sinthay Creek) and Theik Chaung bridge (over Sinthay Creek) connecting Zeyar Thiri Township to Pobba Thiri Townhship with temporary Bailey bridge, small vehicles can cross over it.
Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair, Chief Ministers of regions and states, Lt-Gen Phone Myat of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commanders of regional military commands and departmental offciails encouraged to the search and rescue operations, provided flood victims with foodstuffs and coordinated efforts of the officials.
Departmental officials, Tatmadaw personnel, Myanmar Police Force members, Fire Brigade members, Red Cross members and volunteers of respective areas have been making concerted efforts of relief and rescue operations in timely manner. With heavy rains, there may be natural disasters such as strong winds, suddenly flooding, and landslide. The people living in low-lying areas and villages along the creeks and rivers should be aware of the flooding and Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a notice to warn air travelers in advance, it is reported.

Concerned authorities, military personnel, MPF members, fire brigade members, red-cross association members and philanthropic organizations carried out search and rescue operations to victims and provided them with foodstuffs.
- Concerned authorities have made concerted efforts for clean-up activities such as removing debris and sands on the roads as well as bridges and in the wards as well as villages following the water in the ebb.
- Since efforts have been made for repair and substitution works for Theik Chaung bridge, Nawin Chaung bridge, as well as 2 bridges of Poppagon bridge (over Sinthay Creek) and Theik Chaung bridge (over Hsinthay Creek) connecting Zeyar Thiri Township to Pobba Thiri Townhship with temporary Bailey bridge, small vehicles can cross over it.
