Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression over the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, circulated rumors on social media platforms stating that the youths recruited forcibly by the Tatmadaw in Sagaing and Mandalay cities are being sent to towns of Kho Lam and Namhsan. It is just fabrication. In reality, relevant administration bodies are working in accordance with People’s Military Service Law. No forced recruitments of youths are reported.
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, spread false information on social media platforms accusing that security personnel have committed more thatn 300 war crimes including killings of 201 people in August. It is just ground rumours. In reality, the Tatmadaw never commits such crimes. However, those media spread rumours to create a misleading impression over the Tatmadaw by the people, turning a blind eye to explore the terrorists’ violent acts.
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media source, made fake news go viral on social media platforms alleging that security personnel launched a drone attack against the villages in Yaytarshay Township, killing three civilians. It is just a baseless speculation. In reality, security personnel did not launch any drone attack against the villages in the township.
Since the enforcement of People’s Military Service Law, subversive media and those who do not wish to see peaceful situation are poisoning the entire populace with groundless information on social media platforms to feel frightened and hatred for security personnel and law enforcement organizations, reports say.
