The Supervisory Committee on Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil takes proper measures in accordance with the shipment plan to ensure local fuel consumption. On 22 August, six oil tankers arrived at the pilot bar of the Yangon River, and four oil tankers docked at the jetties of Thilawa Port and refilled over 70,000 tonnes of diesel and 11,000 tonnes of petrol at the storage tanks. Moreover, the committee arranges more oil tankers to dock at the ports as per set plan. Furthermore, the committee supervises the departures of bowsers to regions/states as scheduled and the status of fuel filling to oil tanker trucks at Thilawa Port.
In order to prevent the fuel shortage at the filling stations, more than 1,000 bowsers distributed fuel oil to over 3,000 filling stations across the country, including about 100 fuel stations in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory while 200 in Yangon Region, 700 in Mandalay Region and 250 in Shan State (South). Moreover, the fuel oil was distributed to the stations in need under urgent and unique plans. About three million gallons of petrol and diesel have been distributed to date. Therefore, heavy queues at the stations were reduced, the sales returned to normal. Furthermore, plans are underway to accelerate the distribution of fuel oil.
At present, the fuel oil prices at the filling stations declined. As the people made panic buying for fuel oil due to the rumours, the public are urged to buy fuel oil what they need actually and emergency distribution of fuel is being made for the fuel stations which are in need actually, it is reported.
