Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, accompanied by Council Joint-Secretary General Ye Win Oo and wife, council members General Maung Maung Aye and wife, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, and General Nyo Saw and wife, union ministers U Min Naung and U Myo Thant, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Central Command commander and officials, inspected preservation of ancient historical religious edifices and cultural heritages in Mandalay on 25 August. During the tour, the Senior General inspected and visited the following places:
- Maintenance of the western wall of the Mandalay royal palace and preparations to rebuild Sishay Bridge;
- Maha Atulawaiyan (Atumashi) Monastery;
- Shwenandaw Monastery (Golden Monastery);
- Maha Thakya Marazein Kyauktawgyi Pagoda built by King Mindon, who organized the 5th Buddhist Synod;
- 162 years old Kyunkyaung monastery (which was constructed teak wood); and
- Myanansankyaw Golden Palace in Mandalay royal city.
After hearing the reports presented by the officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture during the inspection, the Senior General instructed the officials to keep the preservation of ancient buildings in its original styles, systematic preservation of the invaluable ancient historical heritages in generations, and the maintenance of the buildings to ensure long-term existence, and other requirements. Later, the Senior General and party viewed round the documentary photos and royal artefacts displayed at the Myanansankyaw Golden Palace.
