Since excessive purchase of petrol than usual these days in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay cities happened some filling stations with crowded and very long queues, some stations ran out of fuel for some time before the subsequent arrival of oil bowsers. Under the circumstances, emergency distribution of fuel is being made for the fuel stations which are in need actually in addition to regular distribution of fuel. The Supervisory Committee on Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil announced that there is no such possibility of fuel shortage according to the remaining stocks and the incoming oil tankers from abroad.
On 16 August, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and party inspected the storage of fuel oil in fuel tanks and the status of fuel filling to oil tanker trucks at Myanmar International Port (Thilawa) of Yangon Region. Then, the Chief Minister gave necessary instructions to the officials of oil terminals and oil tanker trucks: not to occur any fault in filling system to oil tankers from oil tanks; to perform systematic filling, leaving and distribution; and collaborate for the best facilitation as well as other things.
Demand of fuel oil is evidently being increased at 210 fuel stations in Yangon Region as the people made panic buying for fuel oil due to temporarily suspension of the sales of fuel oil at some stations. So, fuel oil has been distributed to the fuel stations in recent days to be normality as quickly as possible, it is reported.
