Members of anti-narcotic task force from Ministry of Home Affairs joining hands together with security personnel are putting an emphasis on anti-narcotic measures, and the seizures of narcotic drugs in July 2024 were as follows:
- From 1 to 31 July, a total of 674 drug-related offenders including 557 males and 117 females were arrested along with a total of MMK122,427.063 million (over USD 36.764 million) worth of narcotic drugs: 302.68 kilos of opium; 206.37 kilos of heroin; 27,690,706 stimulant tablets; 20.02 kilos of piece of stimulant tablets; 2,904.13 kilos of ICE; 65.72 kilos of marijuana; 12.39 kg of concentrated poppy straw; 3.13 kg of low-grade opium; 0.25 kg of opium powder; 0.2 liters of liquid opium; 165.84 kg of poppy leaves; two liters of opium tincture; 17,155 Ecstasy tablets; 10,000 tablets of diazepam; 100 vials of diazepam injection; 69,250 tablets of tramadol capsules; 1,500 bottles of tramadol injections; 11.26 kilos of Happy Water; 10.26 kilos of Ketamine; 0.15 kilos of caffeine; 16,430 kilos of Ammonium Nitrate; 18,750 kilos of Sodium Cyanide; 6,800 liters of Hydrogen Peroxide and 12,875 kg of Caustic Soda were seized.
The arrested drug-related offenders were handed over to the relevant police stations and harsh legal actions are being taken against them under the law. Members of anti-narcotic drugs task force, joining hands with security force members, are making further identification to apprehend drug-related offenders for the sake of elimination of narcotic drugs.
