Union Minister, Deputy Minister and Yangon Region Chief Minister Receive Delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Lwin Oo and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein met H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India to Myanmar and his delegation, at the meeting halls of the relevant ministries and the state government office on 8 and 9 August.

  • During the meeting between Union Minister for Information and Ambassador of India to Myanmar and his delegation, they cordially discussed cooperation in the media sector between the two countries, broadcasting trustworthy news, the groundbreaking ceremony in September of the Literati Beikman to be built with the help of India, collaboration in the economic, tourism, literature and culture sectors, and further enhancing the relationship between the two countries.
  • During the meeting between Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of India to Myanmar and his delegation, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the strengthening of the existing friendly bilateral relations between the two countries and further cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, including the ongoing connectivity projects and the bilateral border management mechanisms.
  • During the meeting between Yangon Region Chief Minister and Ambassador of India to Myanmar and his delegation, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar discussed the matters related to the economic cooperation between India and Yangon Region, maritime and air trade matters, culture sector, economic sector and bilateral relationship. Yangon Region Chief Minister said words of thanks to India government for donating sacks of rice, sacks of wheat and vaccines during COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized that India is investing some projects in Yangon Region and other investment projects are also invited to implement in Myanmar, Moreover, he also highlighted that he will provide necessary assistance and discussed economic sector for the development of the two countries.

Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and heads of departments were present on the occasions, it is reported.
