The combined team comprising Anti-Narcotics Task Force members across the country are putting an emphasis on seizure of narcotic drugs and drug-trafficking. In this regard:
- On 22 July, acting on a tip-off, a combined team conducted a search on a cargo motorboat at Khapyat Creek, Pyapon Township of Ayeyarwady Region and arrested five offenders: Htay Aung; Kyaw Myint Naing; Ye Win Naing; Saw Han; and Seik Phay together with 2.3 tonnes of ICE (methamphetamine).
- According to the confession of the drug-related offenders, the team arrested those who were involved in the drug-trafficking: Tun Aung; Than Htay (aka) Ashae-Gyi; Hla Maung Gyi; owner of the boat and Thar-Gyi (aka) Zaw Thein Hlaing; helmsman of the boat, Min Myo Tun (aka) Ko Myo; Aung Sint Tun (aka) Ko Sint (aka) Ko Sai and Htein Lin Aung (aka) Robert (aka) Kun Ye Lin Oo together with weapons including a pistol, a magazine, and 50 9mm bullets from the house of Hla Maung Gyi, owner of the boat, in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region. Moreover, they also seized vehicles: one Prado car, one TOYOTA Land Cruiser car, two Hilux Surf cars and cash amounting to K19 million from drug-trafficking. The offenders plotted to carry out drug-trafficking to Malaysia from Shan State (South).
Legal action has been taken against them under the law, and officials are conducting ongoing investigations to identify the chain offenders of drug-related crimes. Moreover, legal action will be taken against their benefits and properties under anti-money laundering law, it is reported.
