ASEAN Smoke Free Award program which was organized by South East Asia Tobacco Control Alliance and ASEAN Secretariat was introduced at 15th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting which was held in Bali, Indonesia on May 13, 2022. At the meeting, ASEAN member countries were invited to join in the program. The ASA aims to make ASEAN countries smoke-free.
Among the smoke-free areas in Myanmar, Bagan Archaeological Zone competed for the ASEAN Smoke-Free Award. Iloilo City of the Philippines received the Gold Award while the Bogor City of Indonesia won silver award. Myanmar’s Bagan Archaeological Zone received the bronze award along with Thailand's Saensuk Municipality and LuangPrabang of Laos grabbed the consolidation award, it is reported.
