Union Minister for Health Inspects General Hospitals in Magway Region

               Union Minister for Health Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win and party first met with the Magway Region Chief Minister and officials of departments concerned, COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment committee members, the Heads of public hospitals and township health officers at the office of Magway Region Government on 18 December and discussed the measures on COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment. During the meeting, the Union Minister,

· Said that the Ministry of Health  is conducting the efforts of overseeing in extension of suspension period of returnees from abroad regarding the prevention of the COVID-19 variant Omicron, and the RT-PCR tests as well as preparations for proper medical services if necessary.

· Said that there are more than 19.5 million people nationwide who have received the first does and the government keeps conducting the vaccination programmes to cover the whole country as the first dose can protect the disease to a certain extent.

· Said that the government has received adequate COVID-19 vaccines and will get further amounts of vaccines. The country also cooperates with China to produce the vaccine locally and the programme will commence soon.

Then, the Union Minister, the Magway Region Chief Minister and the Head of Department of Public Health and Treatment Administration in Magway      region coordinated and fulfilled the necessary measures on reports by attendees. The Union Minister and party inspected the Japan-aided new building in Magway General Hospital compound and stressed the needs to run the treatment at that building as soon as possible.
