Authorities Provide Flood Victims with Foodstuffs in Regions and States

Authorities are carrying out rescue and relief measures in regions and states as heavy rainfall occurred in July. In this regard:

  • On 24 July, Bago Region Chief Minister and party arrived at the areas affected by the flooding of the Ayeyarwady River as it rained heavily in Thayarwadi District and provided flood victims with foodstuffs; 201,600 Kyats for one week of rice food; 427,300 Kyats for advance house moving expenses and special grants to health workers providing health care at the flood relief camp.
  • On 27 July, Bago Region Chief Minister and party handed over foodstuffs such as rice, cooking oil, eggs and rice box for flood victims in Moe Nyo township of Thayarwadi District. They also provided flood victims with: 800,000 Kyats of cash assistance for house construction materials for 8 houses moved; 75,600 kyats to purchase food ration (rice) per one week for 36 flood victims of 8 households; 226,800 kyats to purchase rice ration per two weeks for 108 flood victims of 39 households, 1,102,400 kyats in total.
  • On 27 July, Kayin State chief minister and party made evacuation assistance for 5,313 people: 2,544 males and 2,769 females of 1,134 household at the nine temporary rescue camps to others temporary rescue camps. They provided foodstuffs and 3,059,700 kyats to purchase food ration (rice) for flood victims who lived in temporary displaced camps: provided foodstuffs and 2,079,000 kyats to purchase food ration (rice) for 1,405 flood victims of 313 households at the indoor gymnasium and the Shwe Yin Myaw Pagoda as temporary flood relief camps.
  • On 28 July, Kayin State chief minister and party made evacuation of victims to safe places: 7,332 flood victims of 1,589 households at 20 relief camps in Hpa-An, 3,566 flood victims of 1,440 households at 10 relief camps in Hlaingbwe, 427 flood victims of 104 households at three relief camps in Kawkareik, 996 flood victims of 224 households at three relief camps in Kyainseikgyi, 5,346 flood victims of 1,437 households at 13 relief camps in Myawaddy and 185 flood victims of 36 households at one relief camp in Kamarmaung and carried out relief and rescue tasks.
  • On 28 July, Bago region chief minister and party carried out relief and rescue tasks for 18,210 flood victims of 4,793 households at the flood relief camps under the arrangement of the region government.
  • On 29 July, Kayin region chief minister and party supplied with foodstuff as rice, cooking oil, eggs, rice box for flood victims in wards and villages of Hpa-An and 650 flood victims of 134 household at basic education high school-branch as the relief camp. They delivered lunch boxes and drinking water bottles by boats for households who are still living in their homes without moving to relief camps.
  • On 30 July, Bago region chief minister U Myo Swe Win and party met the flood victims at the Maha Kalyani Sima and Kyay Ni Kan Monastery in Kalyani ward of Bago City and provided foodstuffs, cash assistance to purchase food ration (rice) for them and nutritional foods for kids. Then, they inspected flood inundation areas in Myo Thit ward (e) and Kyauk-Kyi-Su ward and delivered rice boxes, snacks and purified drinking water for flood victims by motorboats.

Region and state government officials in cooperation with local military personnel, members of the Myanmar Police Force, charity associations, the local residents made evacuation of victims to safe places, carried out relief and rescue tasks, preparatory work is being carried out in a timely manner in order to reduce the damage to people's lives due to the occurrence of natural disasters, reports say.
