Myanmar hosted the 4th BIMSTEC National Security Chief’s Meeting at the M Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 26 July, was attended by National Security Advisor Union Minister for the Ministry 1 of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office Admiral Moe Aung, BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs Shri Ajit Doval of India, Ambassador Abdul Motaleb Sarker of Bangladesh, Mr Sonam Wangyel of Bhutan, Mr Harishchandra Ghimire of Nepal, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) of Sri Lanka, Mr Ruchakorn Napapornpipat of Thailand and BIMSTEC Secretary-General Mr Indra Mani Pandey, senior officers from BIMSTEC member countries and officials.
Union Minister Admiral Moe Aung delivered an opening speech and -
- The Myanmar representative presented the outcomes of the preliminary meeting for the Fourth BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs’ Meeting.
- BIMSTEC Secretary- General talked about combatting terrorism and transnational crimes and progress in national security affairs.
- The BIMSTEC National Security Chief openly discussed combatting terrorism and drugs, maritime security and cybersecurity, practical cooperation in information sharing in relevant security affairs, current security affairs in regions, and preparations to be made to overcome the coming security-related challenges.
In his concluding remark, Union Minister Admiral Moe Aung reviewed and discussed the points to implement as a priority in regional security issues and cooperate with member countries in future, reports say.
