Union Ministers Receive UNFPA Representative

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw and Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing separately received Mr. Jaime Nadal Roig, the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNFPA delegation at their respective ministries in Nay Pyi Taw on 15 and 16 July.

• During the meeting between the Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw and UNFPA Representative, they cordially discussed matters relating to the ongoing cooperation programmes and exchanged views on the future cooperation between Myanmar and UNFPA.
• During the meeting between the Union Minister U Myint Kyaing and UNFPA Representative, they exchanged views on the processing of Visas and residence permits for international employees from UNFPA, efforts to collect the 2024 Population and Housing Census, use of population statistic obtained from the census in national development activities and the assistance of UNFPA to Myanmar’s development activities.

The deputy ministers and relevant officials were also present at the meetings, it is reported.
