National Security Adviser and Union Ministers Receives Indian Ambassador to Myanmar

National Security Adviser and Union Minister for the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office Ministry 1 Admiral Moe Aung, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Daw Than Than Swe, received Mr. Abhay Thakur, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, on July 15 and 16 at the respective ministries in Nay Pyi Taw.

  • During the call between National Security Adviser and the Indian Ambassador, both sides cordially discussed friendship and cooperation between the two countries, increasing the ongoing implementation of the development projects, security measures, and cooperation for stability and peace along the border regions of the two countries.
  • During the call between Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Planning and Finance and the Indian Ambassador, they cordially exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries, banking and finance, payments related to bilateral trade, loans and technical assistance and the providing of capacity-building trainings.
  • During the call between Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Indian Ambassador, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further enhancement of existing friendship as well ‌as mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and strengthening closer collaboration for the maintenance of rule of law, peace and stability along the border between Myanmar and India.
  • During the call between the CBM Governor and the Indian Ambassador, both sides discussed matters more beneficial for the existing trade through direct payments in Indian rupee/Myanmar kyat, card systems and mobile payments between Myanmar and India.

Also present on the occasion were departmental heads and officials from Ministry of Planning and Finance, CBM’s deputy-governors and permanent-secretary, reports say.
