Members of anti-narcotic task force from Ministry of Home Affairs joining hands together with security personnel are putting an emphasis on anti-narcotic measures, and the seizures of narcotic drugs in June 2024 were as follows:
- From 1 to 30 June, a total of 664 drug-related offenders including 566 males and 98 females were arrested along with a total of MMK49,851.25 million (over USD 14.97 million) worth of narcotic drugs: 94.58 kilos of opium; 57.18 kilos of heroin, 16,561,491 stimulant tablets, 0.68 kilos of piece of stimulant tablets, 544.07 kilos of ICE, 43.71 kilos of marijuana, 25.24 kg of concentrated poppy straw, 142.14 kg of poppy leaves, 1 liters of opium syrup, 550 Ecstasy tablets, 100 tablets of diazepam, Tramadol 220 capsules, 16.49 kg of Happy Water, 206.10 kg of Ketamine, 24,000 liters of sulfuric acid, 11,900 liters of thionyl chloride, 520 liters of Methylamine, 19,600 kg of Ammonium Nitrate, 100 kilos of sodium cyanide, 48,000 liters of Nitric Acid, 850 liters of Diethyl Ether, 16,150 liters of Ethyl Acetate, 100 liters of Benzene and 3,000 kg of Caustic Soda were seized.
The arrested drug-related offenders were handed over to the relevant police stations and harsh legal actions are being taken against them under the law. Members of anti-narcotic drugs task force, joining hands with security force members, are making further identification to apprehend drug-related offenders for the sake of elimination of narcotic drugs.
