Myanmar Delegation led by Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi Attends Dinner at 4th China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum

The Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, who are currently in China to attend the fourth China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation, carried out the following activities:

  • On 2 July, they arrived in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, and met Director Ms. Nie Xunli of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. They frankly discussed matters related to environmental conservation and human resource development and tourism development between the two countries.
  • In the evening, they went to the open-air theater in Lhasa to watch the Princess Wencheng Opera, a traditional Tibetan cultural show.
  • On July 3, Nyanchi and Lulan of the Xizang Autonomous Region attended the fourth China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation. They had a friendly meeting with the representatives of the countries attending the forum and discussed issues related to forestry and environmental conservation.
  • In the afternoon, the Union minister discussed the conservation of the traditional Tibetan highland grasslands and pastures located at an altitude of 3,700 meters between mountains and glaciers. They also paid for observation tours of agricultural and livestock activities, local people-based tourism activities, and the life and traditional culture of local Tibetan people and their livelihoods.
  • In the evening, the union minister and representatives from member countries attended the forum’s reception dinner in Lulan.
  • On 4 July, Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of the 4th China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation and discussed Myanmar prioritizes environmental conservation activities such as biodiversity, ecological and environmental conservation, the country also works with international organizations for research to conserve biodiversity and Myanmar would actively cooperate in relevant sectors among the countries of the Himalayan Mountains region and the Silk Road.
  • In the afternoon, the union minister met Vice-Chairman Mr. Sun Xianzhong of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress, the Xizang Autonomous Region, and they exchanged views on forest and biodiversity conservation, ecosystem conservation and further cooperation in human resource development.
  • On 5 July, Union Minister met the officials of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB). They discussed matters related to biodiversity conservation, conducting further research, and providing additional scholarships to enhance human resource development.

Myanmar delegation attended the fourth China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation, held in Nyingchi City, Xizang Autonomous Region, People’s Republic of China. They returned to Yangon on 6 July and were welcomed back by officials from the Chinese Embassy and the ministry, it is reported.
