A joint team comprising Anti-Narcotics Task Force members are beefing up the efforts to seize, prevent and subdue narcotics trafficking across the nation. As a result:
- On 25 June, the joint team searched a ‘Light Truck’ vehicle, heading to Yay Ni from Pyinmana for drugs at Taung Sin Aye check-point in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. Under the search, they have arrested two drug-related offenders with MMK 20.16 billion worth of 13.44 million stimulant tablets.
- According to the offenders’ confessions, authorities have arrested a group of seven other offenders who were involved in narcotics trafficking plotted to Yangon Region from Shan State. Along with them, a ‘Nissan Box’ vehicle, a ‘Toyota Will” vehicle and a ‘Toyota Estima’ vehicle.
Legal actions are being taken against arrested offenders under the law. Further identification is ongoing to arrest other remaining drug-related offenders involved. The offenders will be brought before the court under Anti-Money Laundering Law to seize the properties of the offenders as public property, reports say.
