Authorities Make Evacuation of Affected Victims in Kachin State and Sagaing Region, Provide them with Foodstuffs

The Ayeyawady River water level has risen due to heavy rainfall in Kachin State and Sagaing Region, causing floods in the wards and villages of Myitkyina and Hkamti Townships. In this regard:

  • On 30 June, local military personnel assisted the evacuation of the affected victims from some 380 people of 150 household at the flooded areas in Yekyi Village of Pammati Ward in Myitkyina Township.
  • On 1 July, relevant officials assisted the evacuation of the affected victims at the flooded areas in the wards and villages of Myitkyina Township.
  • On 2 July, relevant officials, local military personnel, together with members of the Myanmar Police Force and firefighters evacuated 658 locals of 188 households at the flooded areas in the wards and villages of Hkamti Township to safe places, provided them with drinking water, food and healthcare services and carried out relief and rescue tasks.

In this regard, the chief minister and responsible persons comforted the flood victims. The relevant officials and social organizations provided lunch boxes by motorboats, reports say.
